The Red Canyon...

The next morning we decided to drive out to the Marina and go for a swim in the salt water to experience the floating sensation ourselves!  It was a bit of a drive considering we needed to get back, hitch up and get going towards Bryce Canyon.  When we got to the Marina, we were told no worries, the water is fine.  When we got to the shoreline it was another story altogether.  All around the edge of the water were brine shrimp flies.  If you got even close, the would swarm up and fly around.  GROSS.  Yes, the were harmless but really, did you want to swim through that to get into the clear water and then back through it to get out?  NO!  Instead, after a quick video and feel of floating with just their fingers, we drove back to their campsites with just enough time to enjoy the clean pool! LOL

We quickly hitched up, grab some sandwiches and off we drove - heading into the desert and towards Bryce Canyon.  I am so very excited about showing Bryce Canyon to the kids.  I went there with Mum and Dad when I was about Navras's age and I remember being amazed about the beauty of it.  I want to show them the same thing and hope they have the same kind of memories.

Before we got to the Bryce Canyon, we had to go through the Dixie National Forest and saw the Red Canyon.   It was so pretty but a lot of up and down driving on narrow roads.  Yes, I was a little nervous but I did OK even though I rode the brakes a little.  We ended up stopping at all the little roadside turnoffs and then did a bit of a hike to Mossy Cave.

It is one of the only places in the area where you find water.  It's because an irrigation ditch was dug by Mormon Pioneers in the 1890's to try to bring water into the area.  As you can see the kids had fun getting out of the car and running around!

From here, we were off to our campsite, were we had a nice shower, good food and a great sleep!  We wanted to get to bed early cause tomorrow was our big hiking day at Bryce!  Good night everyone.....
